During the dot.com bust of the early 2000s, I was let go from my job in technology and out of work for about 18 months. During that time, I collected unemployment and poked around looking for someone to hire me (with little success). While I had this time on my hands, I decided to take up “cartooning.” I had no experience, so I read books on drawing cartoons and on the process to submit them for publication, and I interviewed local cartoonists to get their advice. I started submitting for publication, and as is my usual style, I went straight for the top cartoon publishers like The Saturday Evening Post and The New Yorker. I got lots of rejections and an occasional positive input to “keep at it,” but the only time I ever published a cartoon was in a local weekly paper that was actually interested in my “out-of-work” hobby. Anyway, here they are. I hadn’t looked at these for several years, and on review, I thought some held up okay, some were dated, and some, I thought, well, what was I thinking? Go ahead and browse them here. They are organized alphabetically just to break them up into logical groups.
